Central know-how of a modern-day engineer entails manufacturing design as well as planning the process in how information is shared at the right time to the right stakeholders. TAMK Engineering education strives to strengthen the knowledge of the design process, which was why they started a project about finding a product data management system.

TAMK wanted a product data management system to support the teaching and research work.  After exploring different options TAMK decided to go with Siemens Digital Industries Software's solutions and collaboration with IDEAL PLM in 2016. A key factor in the selection process was that Siemens Digital Industries Software solutions suited their needs better than the other options Lasse Hillman, lecturer in engineering explains.

– The decision to go with Siemens Digital Industries Software solutions was effected by the extent of the offered scope and the fact that IDEAL PLM already collaborated with Tampere Technical University. In addition to that, the pricing played a part in the decision, Hillman concludes.
